Silverstone 1000km 2011 - 11.09.2011

As the European ILMC season came to a close at Silverstone over the weekend Roger Wills along with team mates Tim Mullen and Pierre Ehret claimed a stunning 3rd place in the GTE Am class driving their CRS Racing Ferrari F430.

The result marked Wills’ first podium in the ILMC. “We were lucky to have Tim helping us with the car set up this weekend,” explained Wills. “We had a car that we all felt good about and the whole race went to plan for us.  We had no issues with the car, which ran beautifully throughout. The final stages were nail biting as it was so close but we got there and took the result that we have been waiting for all season.  It’s a shame Shaun (Lynn) couldn’t be with us this weekend as we would have liked to share the Champagne with him.”

Elsewhere over the weekend Roger took his ex Works Chevron B26 to 3rd overall in the supporting CER race.

“This was the first time out for me in the B26 and it went well. To achieve a podium was really satisfying and I think we can probably get some more performance out of the engine over the winter. Hopefully for next year we will use the car in events across Europe including Masters, CER and Le Mans Classic.”

As the modern season moves to America and then China in a few weeks time, the focus now switches to Goodwood for this weekend’s Goodwood Revival meeting. Wills will drive the ex Peter Sutcliffe Ford GT40 and an Elva Mk8 BMW.
