Revival 2011 - 17.09.2011
The Goodwood Revival was a quieter race meeting than most with just three races in the weekend for Roger.
For the Whitsun Trophy Roger was making the race debut for GT40 P/1009 since it's lengthy restoration and period away from racing. Having had an issue with one of the drive shafts in qualifying he started in 24th place. Roger battled his way through the field (and carnage) to finish in 6th place overall behind Shaun Lynn in his similar Ford GT40 and ahead of RedBull F1 technical director Adrian Newey in his car.
In the Madgwick Cup (a race he won in 2010) Roger started his Elva Mk 8 BMW on the front row alongside Dion Kremer in a similar Elva Mk 8 and McLaren F1 test driver Chris Goodwin in his Lotus 23B. Following a race long battle Roger ended up 2nd to Kremer.
The Revival's feature race is the RAC TT Celebration. Come Sunday morning Roger had expected to be watching the race from the sidelines. Following a last minute call up from Shaun Lynn to replace Desire Wilson Roger had a baptism of fire in Shaun's AC Cobra. In horrific conditions Roger and Shaun stayed out of trouble and finished 9th overall.
