Introducing GT40/P 1009 - 01.03.2011

Legendary GT40, P/1009 has been acquired by the Roger Wills collection following 35 years hidden away in the USA.

1009 was supplied new to Peter Sutcliffe and was raced extensively between 1965 and 1969 by Sutcliffe and other famous names such as Innes Ireland, David Piper, Mike Hailwood, Frank Matich and Ed Nelson.

Having just been subject to a restoration by US GT40 expert Mark Allin the car is ready to race and it is expected to make it's first "on track" appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. Wills will campaign the car at selected events and is mindful of preserving the originality which it has retained over the past 50 years.

At present the car is on display in the Pall Mall headquarters of the Royal Automobile Club in London. It will then be entrusted to Simon Blake to look after for the 2011 season.
